I've been curated multiple times, and I honestly thought that was the magic sauce to getting eyes on your work, but it's not. It's a formula - a hot topic, a click-worthy headline, a compelling photo, the right tags, and something people can't help sharing. Curation just opens the door. But I've had non-curated stories do better than ones that are curated. My expectations are slowly lowering, and that takes the pressure off what I write. I probably won't be one of those writers who churns out a story every day, as I have a job and my own personal writing that takes up a good portion of my time. Medium is not supposed to be my money maker, and anything above the $5 subscription fee is a bonus. So far, I've accomplished that every month, so yay me! I'd rather publish stories that mean something to me rather than pushing out content that only contributes to the noise. In that, I think I've been successful. :-)

I’m all over the place, but I try to be honest in all of it. Find my books and musings at crissilangwell.com.
