Why, hello there, jelly-filled donut. I have been thinking of you since yesterday when I saw you were the last of the breakroom donuts. You may have seen me peeking in that box multiple times, just to see if you were still there.

I tried to resist you. I tried to tell myself I didn’t need you. Honest truth is, I don’t even like you. But as long as you were in existence, I could not get you out of my mind. So I did the only thing that would rid me of your presence — I ate you.

I didn’t just eat you, though. First, I had to hide you. I couldn’t let all the other strong-willed people in my office know that I’d succumbed to your temptation. I put you on a plate, then I made a beeline for my office, hoping my body was enough to keep you secret.

Mission accomplished. I made it safely to my desk, my mouth salivating even though I was not hungry. I had already eaten breakfast. I had already finished my morning banana snack. But you were not to be denied. And now I had you, safe and in secret behind my computer monitors.
